Vacancy: Member Board of Directors (Bestuurder – Raad van Bestuur)

Saba Cares Foundation is the primary healthcare provider on Saba, Caribbean Netherlands, serving a close-knit community of under 2,000 residents besides visitors. The foundation delivers a broad spectrum of healthcare services, including clinical and emergency care, nursing home care, home care, and LIFE-activities.


Saba Cares Foundation is led by a Board of Directors consisting of two members—one responsible for Business Operations and one for Medical & Healthcare management. Together, they set strategic direction, safeguard quality, and ensure effective execution in collaboration with managers, coordinators, and professionals. We are now recruiting member with the Medical & Healthcare management profile.


The Position

As the member of the Board of Directors with the Medical & Healthcare management profile, you provide strategic and operational leadership across all medical and healthcare services. You are responsible for clinical governance, patient and client

safety, and maintaining a high standard of healthcare delivery on the island.


Key Duties

  • Embedding robust quality systems in daily practice.

  • Ensuring compliance with healthcare quality regulations.

  • Leading and inspiring multidisciplinary teams.

  • Strengthening partnerships with local and regional stakeholders.

  • Acting as an ambassador for Saba Cares Foundation.

  • Managing ongoing initiatives.

  • Reporting to and collaborating with the Supervisory Board.

  • ·Contributing to long-term strategic planning and organizational development

 

Your Profile

We are seeking a strong, inspiring medical and/ or healthcare management leader who brings:


Education & Experience

  • A completed Master’s or Doctorate in a medical or healthcare management-related field.

  • At least five years of senior leadership or board-level experience in healthcare.

  • Experience in small-scale or complex healthcare environments.


Skills & Competencies

  • Academic-level management capabilities.

  • Knowledge of finance, HR, and healthcare quality regulations.

  • Strong team leadership.

  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Political, organizational, and cultural sensitivity.

  • Entrepreneurial mindset.

  • Proficiency in English; Dutch is an advantage.
